Requirements of Battering Intervention and Prevention Progam Participants
Each participant of the Battering Intervention and prevention program will commit to the following goals of the organization:
Participant is committed to coming to the program weekly and meeting all contract requirements, including focusing on himself and any type of violence he has used.
Participant will attend and complete all 24 group sessions including Orientation and Exit Interviews.
Participant will actively participate in groups, discuss his abusive behavior and assume responsibility for this behavior.
Participant will discuss his
abuse and efforts to change with friends, relatives and co-workers; and will confront other men and women in their environment who are abusive and/or sexist and report his efforts to the group.
Abuser Commitment
- Batterer agrees to the program goals of safety, ending all violence, healthy relationships based on equality and accountability.
- Batterer agrees to be non-violent and non-abusive while participating in the PRM BIPP.
- Batterer will comply with all conditions of my court order, probation, personal bond or other referral source.
- Batterer will not bring weapons on the premises.
- If Batterer demonstrates threatening, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior, or come to group under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Batterer understand Batterer will be asked to leave and be counted absent. If Batterer do not leave the premises when asked by any PRM BIPP staff, Batterer will be subject to termination from the program. If disruptive or violent behavior continues, a member of staff will call 911.
- Batterer agree to inform my group leader of any violent incident or police call to my home resulting from a family disturbance and to discuss this in group or individually.
- Batterer agrees to be drug and alcohol free while participating in intervention services, will cooperate with group rules, and agree to cessation of violent, abusive, threatening, and controlling behaviors, including stalking and violation of a protective order.
PRM BIPP'S OBLIGATION TO THE BATTERER
- Provide services in a manner that batterers can understand;
- Provide a copy of all written agreements;
- Notify batterers of changes in group time and schedules;
- Comply with anti-discrimination laws and all applicable state and federal laws;
- Report every month after assessment (intake) is completed to the Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) or other referral source regarding the batterers' compliance or lack of compliance.
